I believe that music is important to the world. I believe this because music affects our everyday life. It’s therapeutic, relaxing, and detrimental to our lives. Music contributes to many aspects of life, culture, pride in a country, of just something to help us cope. Music means many different things to different people. What does music mean to you?
Music is therapeutic in the fact that is calms the mind and body. Certain kinds of music are played to the dying to ease the pain or calm the soul. Also music helps calm any person. For myself, if I’m angry I choose to listen to either hard rock or metal or a lighter type of music. Yet for my mom if she’s upset she likes to listen to opera or jazz.
Music is part of every culture. In Mexico they have a holiday called Dia de las Muertas, Day of the Dead. This celebrates the deceased; they play special music for this holiday. For America we have the National Anthem that is sung to music. The Olympics play the National Anthem for which ever country winds. Music displays pride in cultures.
Music is part of our everyday life. We turn on the radio and hear music, and we get to choose any style of music from Latin America i.e. Salsa, to “oldies”, to hip-hop. Our movies just wouldn’t be the same without a soundtrack. Music expresses emotion, how someone is feeling, how someone wants to express their feelings to others. To some silence is just fine, to others silence is uncomfortable. If there isn’t someone to talk to, music is a second option. In elevators there’s music, in offices, employees might have a personal radio to keep them company.
In the end, music connects our world. Every culture has music and we all share it to educate others. Sometimes, if we don’t speak the same language, music is the only way we can communicate. Therefore I believe music is important and we can all understand the importance of it and what is contributes to the world.
